san remo 1

We safely made it to San Remo without any wrong turns or platforms! The train ride was nice, only an hour long which was perfect. We sat with 2 other Americans like us travelling and this sketchy guy who didn’t say a word to any of us the whole trip. We didn’t want to miss our stop so we got ready before the train stopped and were ready to go. Alyssa couldn’t open the door so we told her to push the button. Upon doing so, an alarm went off and when the door opened, the train tracks were there !!! So we kinda panicked but Mario opened the other side and we safely made it onto the platform. There was someone else from ACLE who got off the train so he asked us right away if we were also teaching and we made a new friend! His name is Mark, really nice down to earth guy. He’s been travelling Europe since September so he’s got quite a few stories! Anyway, he ended up being one of Mario’s roommates! So it worked out well.
My two roommates seem very nice as well. Laura is from England and Ashligne is from Boston. Initially they messed up Alyssa’s room so she asked if she could just room with me and it seemed alright but at dinner she was asked to go to her original assigned room. It was kind of sad to part but I guess we’ll have to do it eventually.
We had the afternoon to explore San Remo which is a really area. Its small and not very touristy which is nice to see what an authentic Italian city is like. Its right on the Rivera so the beach is really nice! On Tuesday we only have half a day so we’re probably going to hit the beach and do some laundry J We walked along the water and down the main street. Had an amazing lunch at a place along the water but on the street. Bononcini and tomato lettuce salad and Panini with warm prosciutto and mozzarella melted. It was absolutely to die for! I am kind of glad we’re with ACLE now and our meals are provided because I am running low on funds! Ahahaha We seem to be spending most of our money on food and water !!! It def isn’t like at home where I can drink all the water I want. I’ve cut down but have noticed a difference in the dryness of my skin and I’m always thirsty. I guess I’m just going to have to get used to it though.
We also stopped at an internet café to send out a few emails since we couldn’t get through to our families! Let everyone know we’re alive and well. It was also a regular café so Mario and I had a nice espresso! My first one in the homeland! My was it strong and delicious!!
Tonight we all went to a meet and greet with the tutors. People are coming from all over and everyone has a story to tell. It was nice to kind of meet everyone and say hello. I look forward to orientation tomorrow and all that it has to bring. Im sure it will be a great time! It’s been a while since I’ve got to play drama games with people over the age of 12 so Im looking forward to being silly and having a great time with all the fellow tutors!
